The Three Stages of Parenting
Parenting can be understood through three primary stages: the dependent stage, the interdependent stage, and the independent stage.
Dependent Stage (0-2 years):
In this stage, children are completely dependent on their parents for all their needs. From birth to around two years old, they rely heavily on parental support and care. During this time, it’s crucial to provide them with love, security, and the basics of life, as they are not yet capable of doing anything for themselves.
Interdependent Stage (2-22 years):
This stage can be broken down into two parts:
Independent Stage (22+ years):
This final stage marks the time when children become fully independent and capable of taking care of themselves. While some may reach this stage before the age of 22, it generally represents the period when they leave home and start their own lives.
Throughout these stages, the ultimate goal is to nurture children in such a way that they grow into responsible, God-fearing adults. Parents should continually pray for their children’s spiritual growth and support them through each developmental stage.
