Shows Main Idea – Parenting & Pornography is a masterclass-style video series developed by Into The Light Ministries. Its purpose is to equip parents with biblical tools to nurture children of integrity who embrace God’s design for sexuality while resisting pornography. This series is free for families and churches, offering a theologically rich, practical, and gospel-centered approach to addressing sensitive topics in a family context.

The Series

The series is divided into four main sections:

1. The Design: Establishes a biblical theology of sex, marriage, and embodiment. It addresses the Genesis blueprint, the roles of men and women, and the Christ-Church imagery of marriage. It emphasizes living in God’s design for true freedom and understanding pornography as a counterfeit that appeals to false fulfillment.
2. The Parent: Focuses on the God-given responsibility of parents to shepherd their children. It highlights the need for parents to reflect on their experiences and model godliness and integrity, showing how parents’ imperfections and past experiences can be reconciled through the gospel.
3. The Child: Offers insights into children’s nature and their exposure to pornography. It stresses the importance of ongoing, age-appropriate conversations about sexuality rather than a single daunting talk. The content prepares parents to address their children’s encounters with explicit material with compassion and proactive guidance.
4. The Home: Examines the role of technology in the household, guiding parents to create safe and accountable digital spaces. It provides actionable advice on implementing tech safeguards and cultivating a family culture that aligns with biblical values despite societal norms.

Additionally, the series is supplemented by the TechSafe Tutorial Series, which provides hands-on guidance for setting up safe technology environments at home, including device controls and tools like Covenant Eyes.

The creators, Jacob Valk and John-Michael Bout are dedicated to producing biblically rooted resources that address modern challenges related to sexuality and family. Their ministry, Into The Light, aims to inspire a generation of Christians to delight in God’s design and confront issues like pornography and sexual sin with gospel-centered solutions.

• Jacob Valk holds a degree in Advertising from Mohawk College and a B.A. in Humanities from Brock University. He worked various roles in advertising/film in Toronto, co-produced the documentaries Ordinary Commission and Into The Light, and runs the podcast Chats Under The Sun. He has finished an M.Div. at SBTS in Louisville, Kentucky, where he lives and works at the ReCenter homeless shelter.
• John-Michael Bout holds a B.A. in Classics from Brock University and is working on an M.Div. at SBTS in Louisville, Kentucky. He co-produced Ordinary Commission and Into The Light. He is married to his lovely wife Jessica, and they have two sons, Roman and Andrew.
